As the 7th grade reading and writing teacher for a K-12 charter school specializing in college prep for low-income families, I teach students the grade-level cornerstones of the English language, informative and persuasive writing, critical reading and thinking, and grammar.

Responsible for 100+ students, 45 percent of which were classified as emergent bilingual and 15 percent of which were classified as special needs learners, my responsibilities included customizing curriculum for students at various learning levels, behavior and classroom management, STAAR test prep, building relationships with students, families, and guardians, and all daily coursework preparation.

In collaboration with the Creative Director, I create compelling marketing material and SEO campaigns to attract new business. Once acquired, I tease out the essential threads of a client’s story to write engaging and distinguished narratives that illuminate and influence.

Totaling over 150 pages of editorial each month, Boulder Lifestyle Magazine and Cherry Creek Lifestyle Magazine are both print publications that capture readers’ attention by highlighting the people, places, and interests that make their respective communities unique. 

Responsibilities: 

Created an editorial board—Led story development, mapped out the content, and ensured it was both eye-catching and consistent with the publication’s scope.

Hired and led the editorial team—Managed a diverse network of freelance writers, photographers, models, and stylists.

Wrote and edited—Contributed written pieces to the publication and made sure each issue was error-free.

Managed the budget—Determined how to best allocate resources. 

Art directed photoshoots—Selected photographers and coordinated shoots, including props, models, and locations.

Managed social media presence—Created a posting schedule to engage online audiences with additional content and grow the publication’s following.
